Our History

God’s hand is upon Central Park Baptist Church. We have
experienced wonderful growth and invite you to come and
be a part of this great church. We are a church where
“everybody is somebody and Christ is Lord of all.”

1960

On March 10th, Central Park Baptist was organized with 27
charter
members, in the home of Reverend M. H. Houston
of Farmers Branch,
Texas. Soon after organizing, the church
relocated to an open-air tabernacle
located on Dennis Road.
The church was named, “Dennis Road Baptist.”

1963

In May, Reverend Houston left the church.  It was at this time
that the City of Farmers Branch changed Dennis Road to what
is now Josey Lane.  Upon the arrival of the new Pastor, Reverend
John W. Williams Jr., the church voted to change their name to
Central Park Baptist.

1968

In November Reverend Williams left and the Church called
Dr. Bill W. Slayton as Pastor. The church began to grow and new
buildings were added to the location in Farmers Branch.  However,
space became limited and the church needed more room to sustain
its growth.

1972

Central Park Baptist Church purchased 10 acres of land in the
neighboring town of Carrollton, Texas. The church was moved and
remains in Carrollton today.

2000

In March, Dr. Slayton followed God’s leadership into full time evangelism.
At that time, CPBC called Dr. Delbert White as their new and current Pastor.
